Today I present you with a guest blog from a friend, colleague and avid lover of coconuts, Tove from Norway. Although we are in different regions of the world we both share a passion for coconuts and all things “coconut”. Tove has written a very interesting article about our eating habits and coconuts. How do you eat?
“Have you been thinking about how you eat lately? Does your primary food through the week contain groceries packed in plastic or bags or cartoons? Do you ever take the time to read the labels? I do that often. And I tell you now that a lot of the food contains ingredients that are unhealthy for us. Even the gluten free groceries are not free of harmful ingredients. Have you thought about what is the unhealthiest food in the world? I would say sugar. What do you think?
Why is it so hard for us to make right decisions when it comes to food? Why do many of us think that eating the right food is not our responsibility? So when we get sick, we blame the government because they told us that eating certain foods were totally healthy and safe for us?
The Power of Food?
We Get so Easily Addicted
Yes, I get it. I totally understand that a lot of the food we eat is heavenly good and super difficult to stop eating. Do you know what food I’m thinking about now? I am referring to the food containing both sugar and flour. I remember seeing a documentary that was showing us the power of particular food with the right amount of sugar and flour like a donut.
When I eat donuts, it’s so good that I just want another one right away. That’s what’s happens to us. We get addicted. That’s what the people who sell this stuff to us want from us. They want us to be addicted and eat more so they earn more money. But what happens to you when you eat food like that?
I can tell you what happens to me. I get sick. Symptoms related to eating those foods are headaches, a blood sugar totally out of control, dizziness, digesting problems, aching bones, allergies, and intolerances, etc.
Powerful but maybe not so tolerable!
We Get More and More Intolerant For Certain Foods
Something to be of concern is the growing number of people with allergies and intolerance. More and more people need a special diet due to their lack of tolerating the food. Some of us get gravely ill, and I have no doubt in my mind that the intake of sugar, flour and vegetable oils is to be blamed for this. Just think about it. When you are at the supermarket how many groceries are without sugar, flour or vegetable oils? Not many, I will guess.
So what is the answer?
I can’t tell you that I have the solution for all this. I just think we all have to be conscious of what we are eating and just stop eating what are not beneficial for us. Many of you will run the risk of being ill if you don’t change your diet significantly.
It’s Time to Wake Up!
Don’t be the one that doesn’t ask important questions. Don’t be the one that sleeps during life and when you get sick you blame the authority for not paying attention or telling you what’s right. We need to pay attention, to do our research and look at our findings. I encourage you to be conscious citizens doing your own thinking. Don’t think that someone else is covering it. Do the work yourself. Makeup your minds of what’s going on. I have done that and so can you.
I do my research and evaluate my findings. I think for myself. I am utterly and truly convinced that making my food is the best way to take care of myself and my body. I deserve the best there is and so do you. Don’t for a minute think that the government knows what’s best for you. They don’t. That’s why I make my food at home.
You have to WANT a solution
You Will Need to Plan What to Eat
It does require a lot more from me to get what I need for nutrition, so it needs proper planning. First, I need to plan what to eat. Second, I have to buy the ingredients and third, I have to make the food at home. For example, if I want a sauce for my dinner, I will have to make one. I don’t eat the sauce that the only thing you have to do is to warm it up.
Making your food requires that you think about where you want to buy your groceries. You have to take wise decisions and act upon that. It needs something from you every day but hey. In the long run, it will be totally worth it. Think about how happy your body will be when you honor it with nurturing it with healthy food.
Coconut oil is one of the healthiest food on earth. That’s why I use it in my daily life. This oil has made my life so much easier, and I can tell you that starting consuming this oil was my most important decision ever. You may ask why coconut oil is so beneficial for you.
A really POWERFUL Food!
You may ask why coconut oil is so beneficial for you. It’s due to the presence of the medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) or the medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) in coconut oil which is entirely different from the long-chain fatty acids. The MCFAs are much easier to digest just using a 3 step process to be turned into energy and puts less strain on the digestive system. It processes by the liver, which tells us that they convert instantly to energy instead of being stored as fat.
The long-chain fatty acids require a 26 steps process to do the same and put a lot more strain on the digestive system. Coconut oil also contains lauric acid. 50 percent of the fat content in coconut oil is the lauric acid which is rare in nature. Our body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which has antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-protozoa properties.
Lauric acid can actually kill viruses like measles, influenza, herpes, HIV, some pathogenic bacteria, and protozoa like giardia lamblia. That’s why I call coconut oil a powerful food. Coconut oil contains the most lauric acid on earth and is why you should consider consuming this unique oil. We don’t have a lot of sources in our diet with monolaurin.

Coconut oil is maybe the healthiest food in the world. The reason why I want you to consider taking coconut oil is not just the health factor but also because of its versatility. You can practically place a glass of coconut jar in almost every room at home. In the kitchen, bathroom, and even on the bedroom. In cooking, baking. as a supplement, As a beauty remedy for hair and skin, an insect repellent, or even as a lubricant. If you don’t like the coconut smell, just buy the refined coconut oil just make sure it’s free of solvent chemicals.
Because more and more of us are getting allergies and intolerance from the food, we are eating it’s time to be more conscious and to take more wise decisions regarding our health and well-being. I will urge you to think for yourself and make good health choices.
